Frequently Asked Questions
What Makes Tiny House Construction Company (THCC) So Different?
THCC is the leader in providing premium, custom tiny houses in Canada. From the beginning of a build to its end, we go over every single, little detail in order to make each tiny house perfect for you. We only use superior building products by tried and true manufacturers that are built and installed by professional, reputable tradesmen. Our tiny houses are made in Canada and we can proudly say that Tiny House Construction Company offers the highest quality tiny houses in the world.
WHAT DOES THCC OFFER?
THCC offers three tiny house models: Model One, Model Two, and Model Three, along with three packages: Package A, Package B, and Package C, and three sizes: 16ft, 20ft, and 24ft (You following us?). Each of these models and packages can be grouped together however you choose.
Package A is a partially built tiny house that is best suited for the DIY-er at heart. This is our most cost effective package ranging from $10,500 – $37,500.
Ranging from $24,500-$58,500, you have the choice between Base Package B (fully finished exterior with the installation of rough plumbing, electrical, gas and insulation), or Package B+ (a fully finished tiny house built to Ontario standards).
This package goes against the grain and offers a releasable trailer allowing us to drop the tiny house off at a location of your choice. Did we hear someone say shipping container?…
P.S. Don’t forget the Bunkie Edition
Last but not least, we offer the perfect addition to your summer retreat. Without a kitchen or bathroom, you can treat this tiny house as a perfect guest room or kid’s bunkhouse for those lakeside getaways.

DO WE CREATE CUSTOM TINY HOUSES?
Of course! Yes, we have three tiny house models, but don’t let that stop you. Let your imagination run wild and we’ll be there every step of the way. We offer off-grid, RV hook-ups, extra storage, loft bed, murphy bed, gas stove, full fridge, etc. . Through financing, custom floor plans, interior and exterior design concepts, and unique finishes, our builders and architects will be there every step of the way. Our goal is to make a tiny house that is personalized for you.
ARE THCC TINY HOUSES WINTERIZED?
Most certainly! You know that feeling when you’re afraid to get out of the shower for fear of dying from hypothermia? Yeah, we hate that feeling too. Our tiny houses are insulated just as well as your typical detached-single family home (or even better!). We use the highest quality spray foam in order to arrive at R-20 value in the walls and R-30 value in the floors and ceiling. Not only is the spray foam an excellent insulator, but it also significantly aids in strengthening the overall structure of the tiny house.
HOW MUCH CAN I EXPECT TO PAY FOR A THCC TINY HOUSE?
Depending on which package you choose, what size of trailer and what finishes you decide upon, our tiny houses can range anywhere from $10,500 to $62,500.
HOW MUCH DO THEY WEIGH? WHAT WOULD I NEED TO PULL A THCC TINY HOUSE?
Depending on the size of your THCC tiny house and which model you decide upon, each house could weigh anywhere between 7,000 and 14,000lbs. In any case, a regular Ontario G-class license is all that is required and a ¾ ton truck is more than adequate to tow.
HOW DOES THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WORK? WILL I ALWAYS NEED TO BE PLUGGED IN? WILL I NEED TO BE HOOKED UP TO A SEWER SYSTEM OR SEPTIC TANK?
We offer an off grid package complete with solar/battery/wind power, gas appliances and compostable toilets. On the other end of the spectrum, we also offer fully accessible and convenient tiny houses with 3-piece bathrooms, electrical and sewer system hook-ups, as well as hot water on demand. Whether you’re next to a secluded lake, hundreds of kilometres from the nearest person, or hooked up to your friend’s house, we guarantee that all of your needs can be met.
DOES THCC OFFER FINANCING?
We are currently working on a financing structure with multiple third parties. If financing is a requirement, for now we recommend consulting national banks and credit unions.
Until a third party financing structure is solidified, we currently have a program of stage financing that includes six instalments.
Initial Deposit $499
1st Instalment 20% (Prior to ordering the trailer)
2nd Instalment 20% (After framing stage is complete)
3rd Instalment 20% (After exterior completion (siding/roof/windows))
4th Instalment 15% (After rough-in mechanical & insulation is completed)
5th Instalment 15% (After cabinetry & fixtures are installed)
6th Instalment 10% (Final walk through)
WHERE WOULD I PARK MY THCC TINY HOUSE? WHERE IS IT ALLOWED?
First off, we strongly advise that everyone do their own due diligence and consult their municipality and local building inspectors in regards to housing regulations.
In most municipalities a tiny house, just like an RV or camping trailer, is a temporary shelter. You can park a tiny house wherever you like! Or at least, wherever you can park an RV or camping trailer. Living in a tiny house is permissible in “unorganized territories”, all season RV or trailer sites, and municipalities that have recently made revisions to their bylaws. Make no mistake; these are extremely similar laws to those found in the U.S.
There are many municipalities that allow RVs and other temporary, mobile shelters to be parked on lots, driveways, backyards, etc. There are even some people who rent out their driveways or backyards to those with RV’s or tiny houses.
CAN I DROP BY AND SEE A TINY HOUSE? DO YOU HAVE A SHOWROOM?
Although we build our tiny houses outside of Pickering, our facility is simply a workshop. Due to this and liability reasons, we do not have customers or potential customers out to our facilities.
If you would like to see one of our tiny houses please follow us on our social channels: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, where we update our followers on events and trade shows where one of our tiny houses will be featured.
If this changes in the future we will be sure to let you know!
